WINDSTORM KILLS FOUR IN OKLAHOMA Death Toll in That State and Texas During Past Week Climbs to 86. By the Associated Press. OKLAHOMA CITY, May 10.—The eath toll from tornadoes in Oklahoma and Texas during the past week today had mounted to 86 with the addition of four deaths reported from a series of twisters that swept through Eastern Oklahoma, Jeaving paths of destruction through more than half a dozen com- munities. 2 Mrs. Gladys Downs, 21, was killed yesterday when a tornado tossed her nome 150 yards over a hill. A tornado which first struck near Kinta, and then swept northeastward through San Bois, Rockford, Eureka, Blaine, close to Stigler, and then lifted at the Arkansas River north of Keotah, | took the lives of three more persons. Jim Chappel, 24, 1ll, could not be taken to the storm cellar when the tornado struck the Chappel home in Eureka John Chappel, 171, the outh’s father, refused to aesert his | son and rat by the sick bed while the home was demolished. PURCELLVILLE, Va.. May 10.—Rev Asa Richard, 85 years old, retired Lutheran minister, who for 14 years | was pastor of the New Jerusalem Church, Lovettesville, this county, died early Friday morning at the home of his daughter. Mrs. H. M. Aughinbaugh, in Chambersburg, Pa. He is the father of three ministers, Rev. Ralph Richard of Chambersburg, Rev. James H. Rich- ard of West Palm Beach. Fla. and Rev. M. G. Richard of Collinsdale, Pa. Arthur Richard, county treasurer at Leesburg, is another son, and surviving daughters, besides Mrs, Aughinbaugh at whose home he died, are Mrs. W. A. Wade of Baltimore and Mrs. H. W. Beatty, Lovettsville, where he spent part of his retired life. For 15 years Rev. Mr. Richard was pastor of Lebanon Church, in Shena: doah County, having gone there from Rockingham County, where he was pas- tor of Mount Sidney Church two years. His wife died about three years ago.
