ALEXANDRIA, Va, April 1.—In an open letter to F. C. Goodnow, president’ of the Chamber of Commerce, and chairman of the joint conference on transit fares on the street car and bus lines, the position of the committee, which is now at works with auditors of the transportation lines on the proposed increases, is outlined and citizens are asked to await the completion of the work _and formal report before taking lny"t further action with regard to the matter, Letter’s Provisions. ‘The letter, which is signed by F. W. Noxon, chairman of the transit fares committee, points out that a thorough and competent examination of the facts and figures relating to the increases on behalf of the ple of Alexandria is necessary and that such an examination could not be made at the April 8 hearing at Richmond. ‘The State Corporation Commission, the letter continues, would be called on to determine the value of properties de~ voted to transportation service, operat- ing expense and the degree of operating economy previous to the union of the two lines, budgeted expenses for the pro= posed four months' fare test, the actual revenues before the consolidation and the estimated revenues for the test };erxod in each zone of the proposed ares, Books Examined.
