The erection of this stone edifice was begun soon after the establishment of the mission, and it was completed in 1785. Three friars were constantly stationed there at the period before the secularization. It has suffered much from the hand of invaders, as well as the tooth of time, and all that is left of its former treas- ures are a few old paintings, sadly bat- tered and faded. The mission graveyard remains also, but all vestiges of the resting places of the friars and their spiritual children have disappeared. HALL MISSION 713 D St. N.W.
