W VST “INCHURCH SURVEY First Part of Campaign Ends, and Dr. Kernahan Will Arrive for Second. | The first part of the city-wide Wash- | ington Directed Survey and Visitation Bvangelism Csmpaign planned by ‘Washington churches under the direc- tlon of Dr. A. Earl Kernahan has been | completed. Last night at Calvary Bap- | tist Church the pastors of the more than 125 co-operating churches received the thousands of survey “family cards” containing the information as to the members of the family and the various | church preferences of thoss who do not | have membership in any local church. | Not less than 300,000 persons have been | covered in this survey. This work has been accomplished by 4000 laymen in the ro-opernin[; churches the past two weeis under the direction of Dr. Kernahzn, with Rev. J. R. Duffield, chairman of the survey, | and the ‘various district Jeaders through- out the city, and adjadent sections in Maryland and Virginig. SHAKESPEARE BIBLE REFERENCES CITED C. Ernest Smith Announces Special Sermon Series for Lent. KERNAHAN. Dr. Dr. C. Ernest Smith is preaching a* St. Thomas’ Church during Lent a course of sermons on “The Bible Shakespeare.” His subject tomorrow will be “Queen Katharine, a_ Model Wife,” illustrated by Claudia Procula, wife of Pontius Pilate. He will deliver a lecture Monday eve- ning on “Shakespeare’s Henry VIIT and the Religious Issues of His Time.” The lecture will be in part illustrated and will be delievered in the hall adjoining the church. Dr. Willilam S. Bishop, vicar of St. Thomas’, will conduct a quiet day for the women of the parish Thursday, as follows: 10, 11, 11:30 and 3. ‘The organ which Messrs. Lewis and Hitchcock of this city are building, the gift of Mrs. E. Gray Pendleton, one of St. Thomas' parishioners, is now being erected on the south side of the church. Its completion is promised in time for Easter day, but it will not be dedicated until May 26, when Bishop Freeman will conduct a service of dedication, on which occasion there will be an organ recital on the new organ.
