NEWS IS SHOCK TO FRIENDS. Mrs. Bryan Won Esteem as Lincoln Resident. LINCOLN, Nebr., January 22 (#).— News of the death of Mrs. William Jennings Bryan brought expressions of regret from Lincoln friends of the family. Mr. and Mrs. Bryan were resi- dents of Lincoln for more than 30 years, and it was while making his resi- dence here that Mr. Bryan was three times the candidate of the Democratic party for the presidency. Their three children were reared and married in Lincoln, Coming here in the Fall of 1887, when Mr. Bryan began the practice of law and was a social intimate of Ambassador Charles G. Dawes and Gen. John J. Pershing, Mrs. Bryan gained a high place in the esteem of neigh- bors and friends.
