The report listed the corporation's grants to education, science, fine arts and peace for the year ended Septem- ber 30, 1929. ‘ The corporation’s most important ac- tion of the year under review and the | largest single comment in four years, the report said, was the decision to pay nine annual instaliments of $600,- 000 each to set up a fund from which | annuities of $500 are to be paid to! professors aged 70. This fund supple- ments pensions to be granted after | January 1, 1931, by the Carnegie Foun- dation for the advancement of teaching. Library Schools Got $111,500. SIX DIE AS FLAMES RAZE OHIOAN'S HOME | Five in Family and Friend Are Victims of Blaze Laid to Coal 0il Lamp. By the Associated Press. | FINDLAY, Ohio, January 13.—Six persons, including five members of the same family, were burned to death yes- terday when fire destroyed the home of xlfl.mn Long, 12 miles east of here. The Wilson Long, 46; his mother, Nancy Long, 78; his sister, Laura, 52; a daugh- ter, Helen, 17; a son, Le Roy, 4, and & friend, Leona Ewing, 14. Neighbors dis- covered the fire, but before they could reach the occupants of the house the structure was a mass of flames. Long and his son were asleep upstairs when the fire started. After the smouldering ruins eooled late yesterday searchers found the _charred remains of the two women and two girls, No trace of the bodies of Long and his son were discovered. Long's wife was a visitor in Findlay Baturday night and escaped the fire. Search for Body Fails.
