* HAYS AND MILLIKEN OFF CHURCH BOARD ‘Association Announces Ac-; tion Against Film Men After | Propaganda Reports. By the Associated Press. NEW YORK, December 13 Hays, president of the Motion Picture Producers and Distributors of America, and Carl E. Milliken, general secretary of the same organization, have been dropped from the board of directors of the Church and Drama Association. Rev. George Reid Andrews, executive . secretary, announced today. “It was deemed wise,” he said, “not to have representatives of the motion | picture industry on the board of direc- tors. A committee appointed to look into the matter decided six months ago that it would be best not to re-elect Mr. Hays and Mr. Milliken to the board.” The Church and Drama_Assoclation was formed last September by a merger of three organizations, the central body having been launched in 1926 by the Federal Council of Churches of Christ in America. Rev. Dr. S. Parks Cadman is president. Although Mr. Andrews would not admit there were other reasons for the removal of Mr. Hays and Mr. Milliken than that given, the Herald-Tribune said it had learned from a member of the association that Mr. Hays had at- tempted to draw the Church and Drama Association into a film propaganda scheme by sending out publicity and propaganda material from his own office on the association’s letterheads.
