NEW YORK, November 11.—The American Bankers' Association Journal says in its monthly review of business conditions, “Numerous constructive ele- ments now enter the business picture. It predicts the return of a good bond market and points out that bullding construction should revive and commer- cial enterprises be stimulated with the huge release of funds from the call loan market. Regarding the stock crash,. it says “the principal damage done by the storm was to tear away the superstructure that had become topheavy through overextended credit.” While the break in the stock market has caused a decline of about half a cent in hide prices and a slowing up of leather buying, the situation has had no serious effect upon the shoe indus- try and retailers are planning for a record Christmas trade. The current issue of the Shoe and Leather Reporter publishes 35 telegrams from leading manufacturers, tanners and others, and, with few exceptions, they look for no serfous results to their industry.
