NEW YORK, market continued its advance today, and, although trading was light com- pared with that of Friday, the progress ‘was steady in all parts of the list, with the junior rails and foreign loans mak- ing the best gains. he renewal of interest in the grade of investment bond yielding above 515 per cent was evidenced by the buying of such issues as National Dairy Prod- uets 5Ys, Goodyear 5s, Chile Copper 5s, Brooklyn-Manhattan Transit 6s, Hud- son & Manhattan funding and income issues, Sinclair 6s, Fisk Rubber 8s, Generol Motor acceptance 6s, Otis Steel 6s and Transcontinental Ofl 613s. Junior rails to show improvement in- cluded St. Paul adjustment 5s, Denver & Rio Grande Western 5s of the 1955 maturity, which were up 2 points, and the Seaboard issues. The Seaboard 6s | were up a point and the adjustments ! fractionally higher with the announce- | ment of Teorganization and refinancing | buyin affected the | ‘65 of the Seaboard All-Florida | Railroad, which were up 2 points. Price advances in the prime rails and public utilities were as impressive, al- though somewhat smaller. Baltimore & Ohio 4s, New York Central 5s and issues of the Southern Pacific, St. Louis & San Prancisco, Unlon Pacific .and Northern Pacific were all higher. Ob- ligations of Standard Oil of New Jer- sey, Philadelphia Co. and Columbia Gas | followed the general trend. Bonds with | stock-conversion features were active, and most of them showed decided price improvements early in the day. The feature of the convertibles was the tre- mendous trading in Texas Corporation 5 per cents, $100,000,000 of which were offered to the public at 9815 last week. At one time today the when-issued bonds were at & 2)5-point premium. Foreign descriptions took a more ac- tive part in the advance today than has before been the case in the current movement. South America, French and Central European issues were higher, but the most notable advance in this section was that of German Central Bank 6s, which mature in October, 1960.
