A’ large and interesting company attended the wedding at noon today of Miss Mary Cameron Hale, daughter of Mrs. Chandler Hale, to Mr. G.- How- land Chase, 3d, son of Mrs. G. Howland Chase of this city. The ceremony took place in the charming old house, re- cently purchased by the bride's mother, on the historic estate of His Lordship’s Kindness, near Woodyard, Md. The arrangements for the wedding were | quite simple, due to mourning in lhc" bridegroom’s family. Rev. William J. Branch of Croome, Md., officiated. A profusion of Autumn flowers, in- cluding chrysanthemums and dahlias in rich, gay colors, massed with ever- greens and palms, formed an effective setting for the wedding party. A string orchestra played the wedding march and during the service, ‘The bride was given in marriage by her brother, Mr. Charidler Hale, jr. Her wedding gown was lovely in its sim- plicity, fashioned of white satin on long lines, the sleeves close fitting and going into points over the wrists. She wore her mother's wedding veil of exquisite lace and carried a shower- bouquet of . gardenias and lilies of the valley. The bride’s atterdants were in dainty frocks of yellow silk, with hats of rich brown felt, and each carried an arm bouquet of chrysanthemums to match their gowns, the color scheme adding more of the Autumn atmosphere to the scene. Their frocks were quite simply made, with large bows of the material caught @t the left shoulder line. « The young ladies in the wedding party were Miss Emily Watts of Philadelphia, Miss Margen Wylie, Miss Laura Towne, Miss ¢ Marjorie Eustis and Mrs. Benjamin ‘Warder Thoron, all of Washington. The bride is one of the nost popular members of the younger set, and is the daughter of the former Assistant Secretary of State, Mr. Chandler Hale. She is active in the Junior League, and is now correspond- secretary of the organization. The bridegroom is a graduate of the Harvard and Princeton Universities and is a member of the Chevy Chase Club. Col. and Mrs. Haywood Shepherd Hansell announce the engagement of their daughter Susan Wharton to Reginald Franklin Conroy Vance, lieu- tenant, Air Corps, United States Army, the wedding to be November 27 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Chatta- nooga, Tenn. Miss Hansell is the only daughter of Col. and Mrs. Hansell, and is one of the most charming and attractive girls in the Army set. She completed her edueation at Miss Burke School in San Francisco, afterward traveling exten- sively abroad. Lieut. Vance is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Reginald Conroy Vance of Predericksburg, Va.. He is a gradu- ate of St. Paul's School of Concord, N.
