DIES AT AGE OF 67 President of Brokerage and Realty Firm Is Victim of Heart Attack. Herman W. Van Senden, 67 years old, president of the brokerage and real estate firm of H. W. Van Senden, Inc., with offices in the Colorado Building, dled ln Washington Sanitarium early Death was ascribed to a heart -mek Mr. Van Senden, who resided 1868 Columbia road, went to the sanitarjum yesterday for a rest and treatment, after ailing several days. Mr. Van Senden had been in the brokerage and real estate business here for many years. He first came to this city in 1897 as private secretary to John G. Carlisle while the latter was Secretary of the Treasury during Presi- dent Clevelahd’s second administration. He was a member of the City Club and the Columbia Country Club. Prior to coming to Washington Mr. Van Senden was the owner and pub. lisher of a newspaper with Noble J. Dilday, at Pratt, Kans, and then at Paducah, Born near Mt. Carmel, Ind., he was educated in schools in’ Indiana and Tllinois. He is survived by his widow, who before her marriage was Miss Jessie M. Smith of Wichita, Kans.; three sis- ters, Mrs. Elizabeth Butterick and Mrs, George Lipper of Browns, Ill., Risley L. Tilton of Mt Carm:l, I, and two brothers, Otto G. Van Senden and James Hugh Van Senden, both of Mt. Carmel, II. The last named brother formerly resided in this city. Mr. Van Senden also leaves a nephew, Dr. Charles J. Shellhorn, vice president and treasurer of the firm of H. W. Van Senden, Inc.
