P., Prime Minister of Great Britain, and Miss MacDonald, who will be accompanied by the Ambassador of Great Britain and Lady Isabella Howard. After the forma! call the party will return to the British embassy. ‘When at 2:30 o'clock tomcrrow after- noon the premier and his daughter ar- rive at the White House to be guests of the President and Mrs. Hoover, the entire suite of rooms on the north side | of the White House facing Pennsyl- vania avenue will be in readiness for them. The Ambassador and Lady Isabella] Howard will entertain at dinner this evening for their house guests, the prime minister and his daughter, Miss Ishbel MacDonald. The guests at din- ner will be only members of the em- bassy staff and personal friends of the hosts. LL arrangements are made at the A White House for the reception Minister of the Netherlands And Mme. Van Royen Returning. ‘The Minister of the Netherlands and Mme. Van Royen are among those arriving in New York today aboard the Statendam, and will come to Wash- ington tonight or tomorrow. Mrs. Deneen, wife of Senator Charles S. Deneen, was hostess at luncheon woday incompliment to Mrs, E. A. Har- riman, president of the Republican League of Woman Voters. The luncheon followed the meeting of the executive committee of the league, of which Mrs. Denecn is a member. Senator and Mt ‘Tasker L. Oddie have as guests at their home on LeRoy place Capt. and Mrs. Alfred Howe, the former head of the Naval Mission in Peru, and Mrs. Arthur Bailhache of San Francisco. Mrs. Foote, wife of Capt. Foote, gave a luncheon at Chevy Chase today for Mrs. Howe. Representative and Mr3. Richard Yates have returned to Washington and are in their apartment in hte Roosevelt for the Winter. Representa- tive and Mrs. Yates spent two months with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. John Wishart Hender- son, in_their charming country home near Glasgow, Scotland, where Repre- sentative and Mrs. Yates were exten- sively entertained. Mr. and Mrs. Hen- derson’s home is surrounded by large grounds and in their rose garden there are more than 500 varieties of roses, and at the foot of the hill a picturesque little brook runs under the quaint stone bridge at the entrance. Representative and Mrs. Willlam E. Evans and their daughter, Miss Cather- ine Evans, who have been passing the Summer at their home in California, are exnected to open their apartment at the Wardman Park Hotel for the Winter the middle of the month. ‘The director general of the Pan- American Union, Dr. Leo S. Rowe, spent this morning at Quantico, where he de- livered an address on “The Status of | Pan-American Unity” before the student officers and instructing staff of the Marine Corps School at Quantico. The Assistant Solicitor of State and Mrs. Joseph Richardson Baker, who spent the late Spring and the Summer in Europe, have returned to Washing- tcn and have opened their apartment at 2032 Belgiont road. Mrs. Baker will not resum®her informal at homes on first Saturdays until November 2. The United States Minister to the Netherlands and Mrs. Gerritt Diekema, who are spending a short time at the Mayflower, will sail for the former's new post Saturday, November 2, aboard the Leviathan. Mrs. Frazier is now in New York after a series of visits in the North and will return to Jacksonville after her stay in Washington. Col. and Mrs. Frazier have many friends here, made during the former's station in the Capital, from which he was transferred to_Jacksonville about a year ago. Mrs. Wooten will be hostess at an informal bridge party, Tuesday for Mrs, Frazier and other entertainments will be planned for her during the week. ‘The new secretary of the Polish lega- tion, M. Stanislaw Massalki, and Mme. Massalki arrived in New York today aboard the Fresident Roosevelt, and are expected to come to Washington tomorrow. Former United States Ambassador to Germany, Mr. James W. Gerard, was among the passengers aboard the Beren- garia, which arrived in New York this morning. Mr. end Mrs. Kenneth Downs will en- tertain in their home in Alexandria this evening for Miss Elizabeth Litchfield Stuart, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alex- ander Stuart of Abingdon, Va., and her fiance, Mr. Willlam B.
