S. as Move Into Retail Field Is Seen. BY MARTIN CODEL. NEW YORK, September 28 (N.A. N.A).—John J. Raskob is understood to be contemplating chain radio stores as part of the plant for the General: Motor Co.’s advent into the radio in- dustry. Outlets for the new radio re- ceiving set to be produced and dis- tributed by General Motors also will be found among its present distributors of | automobiles and electric refrigerators, parlicularly in the smaller cities. Insiders profess to know that this automctive corporation was impelled to cnter the radio field because of the sea- sonal character of its merchandising problem. Motor cars and electric re- frigerators find their best markets in Spring and Summer. Radio apparatus, on the other hand, sells best in Fail and Winter, when people remain in- doors more and are presumed to be more inclined to listen to radio pro- grams. Negotiations between the General Motors Co. and the Radio Corporation of America were still in progress today. and an announcement of completed ar- rangements is expected momentarily. Deal Yet Is Unclosed. From an interview today with David Sarnoff. general manager of the Radio Corporation of America, it was learned only that the deal had not been closed.
