REAL ADDITION PLANNED FOR ALBAN TOWERS Five-Story Brick Apartment’ to Cost $400,000 Will Be Constructed. Construction of a five-story brick apartment house at an estimated cost of $400,000, as an addition to Alban Towers, 3700 Massachusets avenue, will be started shortly by Baer & Scholz, builders and owners of the apartment < project, which, with the addition, will become one of the three largest ‘Washington, it was announced today. The addition will be erceted on a site on the northwest corner of Wis- consin avenue and Garfleld street, ad- ¢ joining Alban Towers on the south, which was acquired from the Protestant Episcopal Cathedral _Foundation, _in negotiations handled through the office of J. A. McKeever Co. - Ground to be Broken Soon. It is expected that ground will be broken for the new building during the coming week, as the plans already have been approved by the District building inspector. This new building when completed will have a total of 775 rooms, divided into 205 apartments, ranging in size from three rooms and bath to six rooms and two baths, with about 90 per cent of the apartments having porches. First Built a Year Ago. The present Alban Towers building was designed and built by Baer & Scholtz about one year ago. The com- glet?d project will cover the entire lock on Wisconsin avenue from Mas- sachusetts avenue to Garfield street, a distance of 300 feet, with a frontage of 221 feet on Massachusetts avenue. The entire buiding will have.a cubical content of 3,200,000 cubic feet. _ There will be provision for parking of automobiles of tenants. September 21.— Southern hospitality, for which the Old Dominion is famous, is to be emulated 'E all its glory by Richmond realtors entertaining delegates to the ninth nual convention of the Virginia Real te Association, which will convene in the State Capital October 23 for a three-day session, according to word from that city. Bangquets, balls, orations, sightsceing, bridge parties and fashion reviews form part of the entertainment that will be tendered to members of the real estate association of the State there. The Richmond Real Estate Exchange will be host to the conyention that will be com- posed of delegates from every town in the State. - The program indicates, however, that the entertainment features actually will hold a_secondary place in the conven- t Business conferences will include spegkers and experts who will furnish the realtors with the latest real estate thought.
