He spoke of the large number of entries already re- celved from out of town and of those which are promised. L. Gordon Leech, announced today that J. J. Odenwald, representative here of the Caille motors, had assured him that three of the outstanding race drivers of outboard motor racing will be on hand for the regatta, They are John Leslie, Harry Vreeland and Wade Hampton. Eakin, 22 years old, of the 3000 block Tilden street, wife of Glen E. Eakin, local real estate opera- tor, was arraigned in Traffic Court this morning on the charge of being the operator of an automobile that struck . and injured Helen Lewis, 9 years old, 1500 block of Fuller street, on Wednes- day afternoon and failed to stop. Mrs. FEakin demanded a jury trial and Judge John P. McMahon named September 12 as the day for the trial. She is out on $500 bond. Little Helen Lewis, who is motherless, is being nursed in her home by her 8- year-old sister Josephine, and is suf- fering from a torn ligament and possi- ble fracture of the leg. Her father, Frank Lewis, says she will be removed | | to_Georgetown Hospital today. The father said he was leading his two small daughters across New Hamp- shire avenue at Q street, when a car suddenly appeared and struck Helen before he could pull her out of the path and that the driver, whom h2 identified as Mrs. Eakin, continued up New Hampshire avenue. Lewis declared that he took the license number and | the description of the car and put them | in_the hands of third precinct police. The car was traced by police to Glen E. Eakin, who sald that his wife was . operating it on the afternoon of the accident. i Policeman C. W.
