FINANCIAL. RLANDUTLTY BOND ISSUES GAN Convertible Group Is Again Active Following Rise of Last Week. BY CHARLES F. SPEARE. Wpecial Dispatch to The Star. NEW YORK, June 24-—Convertible bonds started the week at a pace that to duplicate last week's totals this group, which were over one- third the combined volume of all classes of investment issues. Large blocks of American Telephone & Telegraph 4!,s were taken to above 133 before there was a reaction. At this price the recent advance had amounted to over 9 points in & week, representing _transactions of $13,000,- 000, International Telephone 41;s were not so active, but made a larger gain and .also touched & new high price. ‘The demand for Atchison convertible 4lps and for Missouri Pacifie 5158 rep- resented the new interest in railroad securities. Southern Pacific 5138 were fairly active, but not much changed in ice. Inactive issues that made a good showing were American Writing P'?.:" 6s and Spokane International 5s, whick Tecovered 2 points of the recent decline of over 5 points. Interborough Rapid Transit Stamped 5s dropped over a point, selling lower than on the break that followed the adverse Supreme Court decision last ng. ‘The foreign list was quiet and gen- erally steady. German issues acted well. So did French rails and munici- palities. There is still an uncertain market for the poorer grade South and Central American obligations, with diffi- culty in negotiating trades in them. ST Washington Stock Exchange SALES.
