By the Associated Press. ROME, June 5.—Giornale D'ltalia, usually most reliably informed on for- eign office affairs, vesterday said that preparations for exchange of ratifica- tion of the lateran accord between Italy and the Vatican were practically com=~ plete. Premier Mussolini was said to have received last night Attorney Francesco Pacelli, one of the signers of the agree- | ment last February, and went over with him the program to which the premier wishes to give the most solemn char- acter. It was generally understood that the date chosen was Friday, but it may be retarded. The newspaper Pic- colo learncd that the exchange would take place at the Venezia Palace after publication of the accord in the Italian official gazette. It was understood that the Vatican’s | first_official act would be to open the | famous bronze door which has remain- ed partly closed for 59 years as a symbol of the self-imprisonment of the Popes. By the Associated Press. MACON, Ga., June 5.— Mrs, Sarah Elizabeth Powers, 71-year-old rooming house proprietress, and Earl Manches- ter. 21-vear-old painter, yesterday were indicted by a Bibb County grand jury for the slaying of James W. Parks, 25- year-old Atlanta printer, just one week after his body was found on a river bank here. The State charges Parks was slain so Mrs. Powers could collect $14.000 life insurance she carried on m. The white-haired rooming house pro- prietress was indicted as an accessory ‘before the fact” of murder and the youth for murder. Solicitor General Charles H. Garrett announced after the true bills were returned that the pair would be brought to trial during the week of June 17 Due to the difference in the charges, Solicitor Garrett said they would be tried separately, Manchester probably being brought before a jury first. Both offenses are capital crimes in Georgia. Police after the first disclosure of the alleged “insurance plot” announced they had evidence that Mrs, Powers had planned several other crimes and that they believed she had collected policies on two men, but so far have not an- nounced definite progress. GYPSIES TELL ‘FORTUNE.’ One Rifles Bank Cage as Other Pre- dicts Teller’s Future. EAST BUFFALO, N. Y., June 5 (®). —Two Gypsy women outwitted the teller of a banking house in Depew, near here, vesterday afternoon and es- caped with several hundred dollars. While one of the women was said to be telling the fortune of J. Christian Krehl, teller, the other made her way into the cage and scooped up all the money in sight. The pair made their getaway in a gray sedan, which sped off in the direction of Buffalo. Mexican's Knife Victim Dies.
