BEST—GOOD AS GOLD. PARTISAN trimmed as good as these in his last start. Races as though he favors heavy going. If sent after the purse in the first instead of in the fourth, he thould never be menaced by this field. GUILDER could not keep pace with him last time theéy met. Over fast going the latter might have been more prominent. The main con- tender, but does not appear capable of being closer than second. UPTOWN LAD closed a lot of ground in that same race. Was gradually picking up the leaders at the end. With a more alert start he should be a factor here. GLEN WILD encounters a band of mighty poor maidens, with btit one o The clockers say this colt is at top form and very fast. His races last year show much promise. Looks best of these in the second. BAR | LE DUC is a somwhat doubtful quan- | tity. Flashed a little speed in her one race here, but must improve immense.v | to menace to top one. FAIR ALBERT | is_improving with racing. Certain to | offer some opposition, but doubt if he | is good enough to cope with the top one. | SORTIE is improving with each race Last time he took on Mowlee he was forced to accept defeat, but with the conditioning he has received in that | and a later good race, he should be | able to reverse that last verdict in the third. MOWLEE rates very close to the top one and will take a speedy horse | to stop him. If he can_handle Sortie he has little to fear. LE BEY hardly rates with the top pair, if his races may | be relied on. However, he is dead fit and certain to give his best. GOOD AS GOLD has turned in cnough speedy performances to make her an outstanding choice over the field | in the fourth. A very fast filly, she ap- | pears to have a splendid chance to win | Hardly likely that any- | ST. she must improve a great deal to stop | the top one. Might be good enough to hold off the balance. TEWSENELDA | appears to be an improving sort. Her | two races were very good, and sh® may to give her a chance at part of the; purse. DRAWING BOARD is a very fit animal and he has always taken kindly to this strip. Won his last galloping and should he do as well against the somewhat speedier opposition believe he can repeat in the fifth. EUPHRATES is packing a lot of weight. Was a long time winning a race, but now that he has reached his top form look for him to prove the main contender here. would make him dangerous. The sleeper in the field. WATKINSON finds a feld of his own | kind in the sixth. While it is a race | chock full of possibilities, the old fellow |is in fine shape and looks capable of handing them a whipping. BLACK PRIDE jwas a fast trick at Miami. O | of thos® races she may get close to the leaders here. AVERSION has won re- cently at a longer route, and has men- aced fair sprinters several times. Dead fit and apt to prove a serious factor. SAUCY SUE is just as consistent as fillies come. In with her own sex here, she should prove good enough to carry her heavy impost to a victory in_ the final. Off of her races looks best. MILADY is a nice miss, and, although she will find more opposition in this field than she encou~tored in her last galloping win, she certain to be among the leader: ai the fini-). JANE RINEHART has found her winning stride. She is a flest miss when right, and her last stamps her as ready to meet this kind. Any additional im- provement vould make her a tough one to stop. JAMAICA RACE TRACK, New York, May 4 (#).—Over a fast track, Harry Payne Whitney's Bargello, quoted at 20 to 1 in the betting, scored an impres- sive victery in the Kings County Handi- cap, which featured a well balanced card here today. It was the second | victory for the Whitney Stable, as | Beacon Hill scored in the third event., The Fair Stable’s Byrd, well played, was second, and T. M. Cassidy's Mi Vida third. Mei Foo, the Rancocas entry, and favorite in the betting, fin- ished away back. He stopped to a walk in the final quarter mile. The race carried a net value of $7,250, and the mile and a sixteenth was run in the fast time of 1:44 3-5. The start was good. Byrd ran right to the front, followed by Bargello and | Mei Foo. In the run down the back | stretch Byrd drew out, but Mei Foo moved inio the place,’ with Bargello rd. Robertson, who had the mount, kept Bargello under restraint, preferring to make his run on the turn. The boy timed his move to the second. At the | three-furlong pole he rushed Bargello up on the inside and then came around Byrd in the stretch. Bargello took the lead, and drawing away won by four lengths. Byrd beat Mi Vida a half a length for the place. Bargello has been. named for both the Preakness and Ken= tugky Derby. Pigeon Wing Scores. In a rousing finish Emil Herz's Pigeon Wing II, ridden by Sonny Workman, was a winner of the first race, beating the favorite, Okaybee, with Everytime third. The race was run over a fast track and the time was 1:13 1-5. Okay= bee jumped away to a long lead and Mc= Atee let her step along. She turned into the stretch three lengths to the good, but in the final drive she tired | and Pigeon Wing II, closing resolutely, | got up to win by half a length. Okaybea | beat Everytime a head for the place. The winner paid 9 to 2. The Wheatley Stable's Erin, with Mc~ Auliffe, was winner of the second event, in which 14 high-class juveniles com- peted with the Rancocas Stable's Wu, favorite, second, and the Jadell Stable’s Salyers third. The winner ran the five furiongs in 1:00 3-5. Wu came along an end and gained the place by a nose, with Salyers third. ‘Workman Makes It Two. Under a perfectly judged ride, Harry Payne Whitney's Beacon Hill scored & victory with Sonny Workman in the saddle in the third race, a six-furlong sprint. Chciford was second and Sun Shadow third. The start was good, the field going away in a line. Igloo, with his brilliant burst of speed, ran into the lead, but when the field spread out on the turn Beacon Hill was rushed to the front, and drawing away won by six lengths. Chatford beat Sun Shadow one and & (hlg;t‘nflha for the place, with Igloo foul Theuu\smerl put over a good thing in the fifth race, when The Beginner, with the veteran Jockey Kelsay in the sad- dle, landed first money, but it took the boy's best effort to get his mount home. ©ld Kid was second cnd Gunther third. ‘Sweet Lacruse made the running for half & mile, then The Beginner ran to the lead. He displayed good speed and won in a drive by a length from Old Kid, which in turn beat Gunther half a length for the place. Indien Scout was_the first favorite ta score during the day. He carried 119 pounds and won the sixth race in & gallop. Cheers was second and Lets alone third. Cheers and Indian Scout ran close together for haif a mile, then Indian Scout took the lead to Wwin by four lengths. Cheers bat Letalone & head for the place. AURORA ENTRIES FOR MONDAY.
