The court is advised that such re- metering has been in practice since 1915. with the power company selling | to the owners at wholesale prices and the owners reselling to their tenants at retail prices. The power company has served notice, the plaintiffs say, that unless arrangements are made at once 1o eliminate submetering in the Adams Building electric service will be dis- continued. A Police Court jury returned a ver- dict of guilty todzy against Fred Middledorf and Denius Graves, colored, on trial for transportation and posses- sion of liquor. The liquor, consisting | of a large quantity of beer, is said to have been seized when the men were | arrested more than a year ago. | According to the testimony of Fed- eral Prohibition Agent B. N. Quinn, he ‘observed the men driving a truck in the 2000 block of Seventh street. The men are said to have halted to deliver a | case of ginger ale when asked if they knew where he might obtain a bottle of beer. They are said to have pro- duced an uniabeled bottle from the in- terior of the truck, and Quinn arrested ithem on the liquor charge. Elias Duke and James R. Bowen, ar- rested for alleged complicity in the transaction, were released today, as Quinn could not identify them as hav- % accompanied the other two at the e of the arrest. Middledorf and Graves will be sen- tenced Saturday. 1 LIEUT. STORRS SHIFTED. Naval “Sea Hawk” Is Put on Duty; at Anacostia Station. | Lieut. Aaron P. Storrs, 3d, one of the Navy's famous “sea hawks” trio, is coming on duty at the Naval Air Sta- tlon at Anacostia, D. C. Today’s naval orders revealed that Lieut. Storrs is to be detached as aide and flag lieutenant on the staff of the commander of the aircraft souadron of the battle fleet about May 21 and | ‘come to Anacostia. With his colleagues, | one of whom now is out of the service, | TLieut. Storrs gained a national reputa- tion through formation acrobatic flying @b the recent national air races. Australian Mills to Cease Opera- | tions Following “Black List.” MELBOURNE, Australia, April 30 ) —Fifteen thousand men will be un- employed by Saturday in the timber mills and building trades. Building trade employes disregarded the uiti. matum of the employers to man all Jobs by yesterday or all building op- erations would cease forthwith. Simul- taneously the timber merchants decided to stop all timber supplies. ‘The trouble arises from a recent strike of the timber workers which \lasted for many wesks. When the strike was ended the workers “blacklisted” 2 number of concerns which had been employing volunteer labor. The em- goyers demanded that all operations manned or all would cease.
