WEBSTER HONORED FOR CIVIC SERVICE Realtors’ President Is Com- mended for Long Term of Public Activities. Ben T. Webster," president of the ‘Washington Real Estate Board and sec- retary for the Washington Board of Trade, was honored at the meeting of the real estate organization this week, when 19 realtors who &lso are members of the Board of Trade presented him Jetters commending him on his long service here in civic activities. In a presentation speech Luther W. Linkins voiced the sentiments of the group he represented. The occasion was the business meet- ing of the organization, which was ad- dressed \by Capt. H. C. Whitehurst, co-! ordinator and_chief engineer of the District, and W. W. Everett, retiring president of the Board of Trade. A number of committee reports were presented, showing increased member- ship in the board and an extension of realtor activities. Sales Kit Proposed. J. A. McKeever, chairman of the brokers’ division, reported plans for de- veloping a sales kit, to contain funda- mental information and facts pertaining to Washington, to be made available to | realtors and salesmen. He also reported that the division contemplated increas- ing the functions of the salesmen’s reg- istry to embrace a more detailed record of salesmen and a means of aiding the members in hiring and training sales- men. Russell King. vice chairman of the property management division, outlined the details of a survey of apartment Touse operation now being developed. This survey is designed to accumulate statistical information about the person- nel required in the maintenance of apartment buildings. B. H. Parker, chairman of the mem- bership committee, reported the election since January 1 of 18 active members, 14 associated members and 2 affiliated members. Ad Contest Explained. Charles D. Sager,”chairman of the street improvement committee, discussed the survey being conducted by the board in connection with proposed major street improvements, and explained that | the board would present definite recom: mendations to the engineering ment of the District of Columbia in re- spect, to its 1931 program. Rust Co., local loan -correspondents, The report shows that of the total of $45982,500 invested in real estate mortgages during the first quarter of this year, $36,373,692 was for residential purposes.
