An increase of $124,901510 in in- come tax collections last Monday over the amount reported last Saturday, sent the total for the fiscal year starting last July to $32,235,423 more than was collected in the same period of the previous year. The figure bore out expectations of Treasury experts that the tax would bring greater return this year, despite a cut of 115 per cent in the corpora- tion tax. The collections from iIncome taxes Monday totaled $161,743.857, bringing the total for the month to $271,080,711, as against $215,550,008 for the- same portion of March, last year. ‘There now is an excess of expend!- tures over receipts for the fiscal year of $239.703,597, but Treasury officials | expect that if the income tax receipts continue to increase, or equal the amount collected in March of last year, which aggregated $515,000,000, = the deficit will be wiped out. o Births Reported.
