Segrave, British racing driver, was highly praised last night by the Prince of Wales for setting a new world speed record at Daytona. Speaking at a din- ner of the Institute of Transport, of which the Prince is honorary president, he said: “I would like to describe Segrave as a hero. I had a look at the Golden Ar- row a few days before he sailed for America and had a chat with him. I think, without exaggeration, that we can put his effort to regain the world speed record as one of the bravest, one of the most sporting efforts ever made. “It wasn't as though he did not know what the game was. He did. and he left this country with a car which had never been tried out. It couldn’t—there is no room here to go at 200 miles an hour. It was an entirely new experiment from the moment he started, and I am sure that all of us take our hats off to Maj. Segrave as a very brave man and a very fine sportsman. “We can only sympathize with him that the only thing that marred this won- derful success, this great triumph, was that his opponent from our friends over the other side, his American opponent, | “BaKa"” Tweed, exclusive with Wood- ward & Lothrop, is featured in a group of girls’ coats, in lovely mix- tures of green, blue and tan, and silk lined; sizes 7 to 14, $19.50.
