A man had died leaving over 100 parcels of valuable real estate to_his nieces and nephews. Laoeal banks loaned on the real estate, selling the morigages to loeal investars. Another nephew appe with a subsequent will leaving him all the property. No wonder the banks were suddenly interested in title in- surance. Special Dispateh to The Star. NEW YORK, March 6—The market for listed bonds on the Stock Exchange was a shade steadier today without spe- cial features. Gilt-edged securities, es- pecially United States Government and legal rails, reflected in further dull- ness the failure of the March 1 rein- wntmenb demand to make its appear- Convermfle debentures moved errati- cally, and there was little improvement in the corporation list, although the olls were a trifle firmer. Southern Rallv\ay 4s sold off easily, and Frisco 4),s were down half a point. Most activity in the railroad section oc- curred in St. Paul agjustment 5s, follow- ing declaration of the semi-annual in- terest. Atchison 4lzs were strong, but other obligations of that carrier were neglected. A heavy tone was displayed by Union Pacific new 4s, the Erie re- funding 5s and Chicago Great West- ern d4s. Publication of the terms of the Ana- conda recapitalization plan, calling for the retirement of funded debt through sale of additional stock, marked sn- other instance of the current {rend of corporation financing toward eliminat- {ing interest charges. The convertible Ts were benefited to a greater extent, however, by the continued advance of the stock for which they are ex- changeable, Under its retirement scheme Anaconda expects to hasten the conver sion of the outstanding debentures. " Moderate improvement was witnessed in a majority of the foreign descrip- tions, although some of the Italian mu- nicipal and industrial mortgages were again in supply. Unfavorable developments affecting corporation obligations were reflected in | selling of Punta Alegra 535 and a few others. No effect was seen in Certain- | teed Products 5';s of the suspension of ’dwldmdx on the prererred stock.
