By the Assoclated Press. ELLAVILLE, Ga, February 4.—Mrs. M. M. Wellons, 35-year-old school | teacher, and Edward Chapman, her 17- year-old pupil, were reconciled with their families today, while the kidnap- ing charge entered against the woman when she._disappeared with the boy two weeks ago has been dropped. ‘The lad's desire to get back to his mother brought him home after a trip to Toledo, Ohio, and back to Americus, Ga., with Mrs. Wellons. Mrs. Wellons was at the home of her mother. Her husband is with her. A charge of kidnaping against the woman, filed by the boy's father, has been with- drawn. Young Chapman told officers that in | Toledo the woman obtained a position and wanted him to stay, but that he be- came homesick. ‘The return to Americus was made, he saild, where his companion gave him money, told him to buy a railroad | ticket and said she “was ready to stand | by_me to the last in this business.” The boy went to the home of a brother in Andalusia, Ala. Mrs. Wellons ! stopped at her mother’s home. Officers sald Mrs. Wellons’ husband believed his wife’s action was the result of a| nervous disorder. Meanwhile, efforts were being made to take Mrs. Wellons’ 10-year-old son by a previous marriage from her on grounds she is not properly suited to care for the child. Sheriff W. F.
