WARDMAN PARK—“Quality Street.” “Quality Street” is the play for this week end that the Junior Theater is presenting _three times at Wardman Park. A Barrie play, it holds all of that inimitable writer's gift for char- acter portraits that one never forgets. The performances will be Friday mat- inee at 3:45, Friday evening at 8:15 and Saturday matinee at 2:30. Sarah Yearley comes as “guest” lead- ing lady in the capriclous role of Miss Phoebe. Walter Ferrell, another new- comer from the Theater Guild in New York, is the Capt. Brown, just home | [ from winning laurels at Waterloo. The Junior Theater popular actors complete a cast of those “dear people” that walk rght out of the pages of Barrie. The Junior Theater will continue to give weekly plays on Friday and Sat- urday throughout the season. JASCHA HEIFETZ—Tuesday. Jascha Heifetz, world-famous violinist, is announced to make his only concert appearance of the 1928-1929 season in Washington, at Poli's Theater, next Tuesday afternoon, at 4:30 o'clock, as the second attraction in Mrs. Wilson- Greene's Philharmonic Course. He wil be assisted by Isidor Achron at the piano. Mr. Heifetz's program opens with Locatelli's “Sonata in F Minor,” and includes Heifetz's own arrangement of Vivaldi’s “Larghetto” and Rameau's “Rigaudon.” Other composers represented on the program are Couperin, Bach, Mendels- sohn, Boulanger, Grieg, De Falla and Sarasate. Ruth Townsend, a singer with a rich voice and admirable artistry, who has many friends in Washington, where she | has made her home frequently, will be presented in joint recital with Benia- mino Gigli, Metropolitan tenor, by Mrs. Lawrence Townsend, at the Mayflower Hotel next Wednesday morning, Janu- | ary 16, at 11:15 o’clock. Recently her friends here learned that Ruth Townsend became Mme. Milan_Petrovich during the late Sum- mer. M. Petrovich appeared in the first of Mrs. Townsend’s morning programs with Lucrezia Bori.
