BANK ROBBER FOILS PURSUERS WITH TACKS Unmasked Bandit Gets $10,000 in Cash in Colorado—Strews Nails in Highway. By the Associated Press. LITTLETON, Colo., Leaving a trail of carpet tacks on the highway to hinder his pursuers, an un- masked robber escaped yesterday after robbing the Littleton National Bank of $10.000 in currency. He drew a pistol, handed the cashier a small canvas bag and instructed him to stuff all the money in sight into the bag. Malcolm filled it. R. B. Upper Marlboro Jury Decides Case Resulting From Accident. Special Dispatch to The Star. UPPER MARLBORO, Md. October 18—As the result of an automobile accident June 9 last, near Laurel, Md., Mrs. Frances Bender, 51 years old, of Laurel, yesterday was awarded damages of $3,000 for personal injuries by a jury in the Prince Georges County Circuit Court, here against Ashby L. Shepherd of Bristol, Anne Arundel County. Mrs. Bender, who had asked $50,000, claim- ing she had been injured permanently, testified that she was riding on the front seat of a truck driven by her husband, who owns a poultry stand in Center Market, Washington, when the truck and a motor car driven by Shep- herd collided. She said she was thrown 15 feet from the truck and struck on her face.
