Soon after the House adjourned upon the announcement of Gallivan's death the Senate was similarly advised by Senator Walsh of Massachusetts, whose resolution of regret was adopted. At the request of Senator Walsh Vice President Dawes named a committee to attend the funeral, including Senators Walsh and Gillett of Massalhusetts, Dale of Vermont, Harrison of Missis- sippl, Tydings of Maryland and Bark- ley of Kentucky. The House today appointed a special committee of 22 members to attend the funeral. NEW YORK, April 4.—In opposi- tion to a 85 cut in wages approxi- mately 2,000 barbers were on_strike in several hundred shops in Brooi lyn and Queens today. The Master Barbers’ Association had voted a reduction In wages from $35 to $30 a week, and when they re- fused to meet with the Journeyman Barbers’ Union and the State Labor Board to discuss arbitration propos- als the strike was authorized.
