The procedure in the past has been to bring these shares into lline when operations for the rise in other industrials. after pfolonged advance, shows signs of abatement. Blackstone Valley Gas and Electric, offering favorable prospects to share owners because of pending affiliations with other prominent uiility properties, was carried forward some 3 points to its previous high for the year. Com- | monwealth Edison was another favorite, although the improvement here was not as pronounced. Electric investors and United Light and Power class “A" were in demand among lower-priced issues. Middlewest Utilities Up. The upturn in Middlewest Utilitles | was part of the generad rally, but it also reflected publication of the North- | west Utilities Co.'s favorable earnings statement for 1927.
