COMMITTEE VIEWS COAL PROBE PLEA Senate Interstate Commerce Body May Study John- son Resolution. By the Associated Prose Delaying a vote until tomorrow on the resolution of Senator Walsh, Democrat, Montana, for an investiga- tion of public utilities. the Senate in- terstate commerce committee yester- day gave consideration to taking up the next resolution of Senator John- son. Republican, California, calling for | an inquiry into conditions in the bi- tuminous coal fields of Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Ohio. A vote yesterday on the resolution of Senator Walsh. on which hearings have been conducted for more than a week, was forestalled by the absence of a quorum. Unable to take action on that pro- posal, those present gave favorable | consideration to taking up the John- son resolution next week. Similar favor was voiced for early considera~ tion of the bill of Senator Brookhart, | Republican, Towa, to prevent block booking of motion picture films. The Johnson resolution also would call for an inquiry into whether rail- roads have endeavored “to depress the labor cost of coal produced by union mine labor.”" and whether wage con- tracts in the soft coal fields have been | “abrogated or rvpudlnuvd e Births Reporled 1 hizths have hoen revarted {1 e Th Benmt tment 8 thin the Tast 21 hav | OPEN A CHARGE ACCOUNT AT EISEMANS, 7th & F| Private Service Ambulances Local Calls W.
