By the Associated Press. COLUMBUS, Ohio, Januar street car conductor or motorman has a tough job, for he must be some- thing of a philosopher, possess perfect health and good physical control and lack ambition, according to Mrs. Sadie Myers Shellow of Milwaukee. AMrs. Shellow, who is personal pay- chologist for the Milwaukee Electric Railway and Light Co., explained the requirements of a good street car man to members of the American Psychol- ogy Association vesterday. A street car man must have nervous stability, quick reactions, soclal intel- ligence and fntercst in his job—par- ticularly the motorman, said Mrs, Shellow. He must be a philosopher of a sort, 0 he will be able to listen to the com- plaints and abuse of the passen without losing his temper. He must not have too much ambi- tion, for It will take his mind from his work—and the safety of the passen- gers and himself requires that he have the utmost concentrati Tliness in the families of street car employes or disturbing social condi- tions are the most frequent causes of raflway aceidents. Mrs. Shellow sald These factors will eauss & motorman to worry and mishaps invariably re- sult, she said. ROCKVILLE.
