B the Associated P HAGERSTOWN, Md., December 9. =—A verdict of first degree murder thout capital punishment was re- tirned today by County Criminal Court against Regi: nald E. Walters, undercover man, for the killing of Hunter R. Stotler, west- ern Maryland dry chief. Valters was charged with having killed his chief near Boonsboro last July 26, when the two men had gone out, presumably in search of illicit mountain stills. Plea of Self-Defense. Rebecca Johnson, colored, 102 years old, died at the home of her niece, Mrs. Bertha Hawkins, janitress of the apartment house, 1915 Fourteenth street, yesterday morning. Members of the family were un- able to give the date of her birth, but stated that as far as they could learn, she was born in slavery on the Baker estate near Scotland, Md., vears ago. She was freed when rs old and spent most of her life traveling with an invalid woman. She was in good health until 18 months ago when she came to Wash- ington from Pittsburgh to make her home here.
