Special Dispateh to The Star. NEW YORK, came back tods the se so exte ued the current leaders. This | however, a_de- | ed recovery set in, and quotations advanced almost as rapidly as they had gone down in the preceding se sion. At first it was industrial specialties | it headed the upward action. Creen | “ananea was the star performer, soar- z out of the all time. Next the market broadened out with the standard shares such as Steel, General Motors, Atchison and the seasoned dividend-paying rails fail- | ing into line. s and Sentiment Change. | There was little in the news to make for a change of sentiment. Brokers’| loans announced after the close yes- terday showed another increase, bring- ing them to a new peak. Perhaps the increa g ¢ as had been expected, but still it was an increase. The rescrve r of the New York Bank of the Federal Reserve systems as a whole were both down to new ar. On the other hand, | call money renewed at 4 per cent and | as accommodation is obtain- able on asy terms, the average trader is not inclined to worry about gold exports or reserve ratios or the 5" loans. One feature about the market that especial notice was the | better demand for the rails. Concern about the trend of car loadings was no longer in evidence. Instead, there was hope that other railroads might follow the example of the Southern Railway directorate in raising divi- dends. The chief point of interest was Southern Pacific. for which a $7 rate has been long predicted, and equally long deferred. Southern Pacific Rail Feature. Southern Pacific was easily the out- standing railroad stock today, touch- g 126 in large volume to the high ce 1911. It was doubtful where Wall Stree hopes in this direction will be realized. Southern Pacific will earn this year between $10 and $11 a share, and there has been no official encouragement for the suggestion of an _incre in dividend. Other railroad_stoc mand included Delaware & Hudson, Canadian F c, New York Central, Union Pacific and Baltimore & Okio in the higher priced group and Erie and N Haven among the lower priced share: The utilities recov- ered along with the rails, but they were not so prominent. Some of the specialty moves verged on the spectacular. Greene Cananea has already been mentioned. United States Ind rial Aleohol was another rapid mover, running up over 4 points. in a different class was the rise in Paige Detroit Motor to a.new 1927 top. The gain in points was not so large, but in percentage it was strik- ing. International Nickel had a run- up and Calumet and Arizona followed | Greene Cananea. The two airplane stocks continued to soar. in active de- OFFERED CHANCE FOR STOCK.“ NEW YORK, December 9 P).
