NEW YORK, December 8—Soclety Was curious today over the identity of the man to whom Mrs. Margt L Wood of this city and Milbrook, N. Y., Was engaged. On Monday her father, Dwight S. Richardson, announced her engage- ment to Sir Donald Thursfield, whom he identified as a member of the tish army and diplomatic service. ©On Tuesday Mr. Richardson said cable fdvices had been received telling of the killing of Sir Donald while on a mecret government mission in the Ukraine. Advices from Moscow said the Rus- ®lan foreign office and the Norweglan minister, who is representing British Interest in Russia, had no report of the killing. Available British reference books do not lst any Sir Donald Thursfleld, but Richardson K. Wood, Mrs. Wood's son, sald Sir Donald had_been working anonymously for the British govern- ment for 20 vears and was known only by a number. Repeating the story of the killing as related by Dwight S. RADIO STATION TO BEGIN 10,000-WATTS SERVICE Broadcasting Program by WTFF on High Power to Be Inaugu- rated Christmas Day. Radio broadcasting station WTFF, operated by the Independent Publish- ing Co: of Washington at Mount Ver- non Hills, Va., will go on the air with its new authorization of 10,000 watts power on Christmas Day, Charles L. Stengle, attorney for the - company, announced today. The station now broadcasts with 50 watts power on a frequency of 204 meters. Reception from nearly every State east of the Rocky Mountains and even from northern points in Canada has been reported by the station, which is to divide time with WHBN of Gaines- ville, Fla., the station of the Univer- sity of Florida. O. H. Caldwell, a member of the Federal Radio Commission, pointed out today that in granting WTFF 10,000 watts power an additional move has been made to popularize the lower wave lengths in line with the com-| mission’s policy for spreading the broadcasting stations over the dials of receiving sets.
