Gorman, ap- pointed by Mayor Thompson to make @n investigation of pro-British taint ago school histories, today mself defendant in a $100,000 brought by Prof. David Saville Muzzey of Columbja Uni g | The New York historian filed his | suit in the United States District Court here while Gorman resumed his testimony at the trial of William McAndrew, suspended superinten- dent of schools. Groups Back Mayor. Muzzey charges Gorman “‘wickedly and maliciousiy” attempted to ex- pose him to public hatred and ridicule | when he reported that Muzzey's his. tories showed evidences of British | influence and belittled the work of foreign-born patriots of Revolutionary | times. ! S. : in Conservation Study. 4. Three men to represent the Govern- | Ment on the Federal Oil Conservation Board’s committee to consider legisla- tion for the elimination of production waste in the oil industry have been appointed. They are E. C. Finney, Assistant Secretary of the Interi ‘Walter F. Brown, Assistant Secreta of Commerce, and Abram F. Myers, Federal Trade Commissioner. The committee, to be composed of nine members, three from the Gov- ernment, three from the oil industry “and a like number from the American ar Association, will meet with Sec- retary Work December 10. After a program of procedure is determined, the committee will hear lawyers and members of the oil industry who de- sire to present specific suggestions. 4 Japan Bans Boatman Film. iOn the ground that it propagates | revolutionary ideas among the Japan- @se, Japan recently banned the show- ing of “The Volga Boatman” motion plcture.
