CHARGE OF LOBBYING S8ays He Labored to Prevent Enact- ment of Registration Law by Legislature in Phjlippines. By the Associated Press. MANILA, November 15.— Lingoh ‘Wang, consul general of China to the Philippines, in an interview printed in the anila Bulletin, admits that he lobbied in.the recent insular Leg- islature against the passage of a Chi- nese registration law which was rec- ommended by Acting Gov. Gen. Eu- gene A. Gilmore. The consul general says he urged several Senators to postpone consideration of the meas- ure, which he regarded as unfair to Chinese. ‘The bill had been recommended by Mr. Gilmore as a check to illegal entry of Chinese to the Philippines. It pro- vided drastic penalties and deporta- tion in case of illegal entry. Gilmore has not stated what action would be taken, although it is under- #tood that he regards Lingoh Wang's course as a e interference with internal affairs, contrary to diplematic or consular usa —e Curtains of artificial silk are taking the place of the cotton variety to such an extent in Kurope that there is a gcarcity of ope: m.
