S attorney and mon, prominent young son of Rabbli Abram Simon of the Washington Hebrew Congregation and former president of the Board of Education, died in Emergency Hospital early today after a short iliness. Mr. Simon had distinguished him- as a scholar in the public schools s U nivers ty Univer: w hool, and in his five y ctice here had come to be recog- zed by members of the bar as one of the promising young lawyers of the District. ve of California. Born in Sacramento, Calif., Febru- ary 21, 1899, Mr. Simon came to Washington with his parents in 1904. He went through primary and grade hools here and was graduated from 1 High School in 1916, winning cholarship to Johns Hopkins Uni- ersity. Entering Johns Hopkins in the Fall of 1916, he covered the four-year bachelor of arts course in three years, getting his degree in 1919, in spite of an absence of several months, while serving in the World War as a lieuten- ant in the Army. Followi graduation from Johns Hopkins University he entered the etown Law School in 1919 and was graduated in 1922. receiving his LL. B. degree. He took postgraduate work th and in 1923 received his master of law degree. He was admitted to the bar of the District of Columbia Supreme Court and the Court of Appeals in 1922 and in the early part of that year was ad- mitted to practice before the Supreme ourt of the United States. He was associated with the law firm of Ad- kins & Nesbit. ‘While at Johns Hopkins he was awarded the Omicron Delta Kappa key for combined scholarship and s leadership and the Phi Beta appa key for scholarship. He was a member of the Town and Country Club. Mr. Simon is survived by his par- ents and a brother, David R. Simon. He was unmarried. Funeral services will be conducted at the residence of his parents, with whom he made his home, 3722 Harri- son street, Thursday morning at 10 o'clock. Interment will be in the Washington Hebrew Congregation Cemete Tributes to His Memory. Tributes were paid Mr. Simon to- day by Jesse C. Adkins, former As- ant United States Attorney Gen- al, his law associate, and by Justice rederick L. Siddons. Mr. Adkins de- scribed Mr. Simon as an able lawyer who in four short years at the bar had won the admiration of several of the justices and had given promise of a great future. He asked that ap propriate mention be made in the rec- ord of the court over Mr. Simon's passing. Justice Siddons readily acceded to the request and deciared that the passing of such a young man on the threshold of life is a severe. loss to the bench, the bar and the commu nity. To any one acquainted with | the high ideals of citizenship of his distinguished father it would be sur- prising, the court stated, if the loss ss than the man of high ideals and clean living as described by Mr. Adkins, :ughter was born and Mrs. John Brooklyn Hos- receive the name Mrs. Van Wagoner Armistead_Hull, nd Mrs. Peyton of Washington, D.
