They admitted the attack, implicating the leader of their cult as the instigator. Mrs. Rowan disappeared for more than a week following the attack on Fullmer. Her followers told authori- tles that she had been ‘“called over the mountain tops.” When Mrs. Rowan reappeared Tuesday and sur- vendered to the police, she denied that she perticipated in the attack on Full- mer. Instead, she sald, she was at- tacked after complying with a tele- phoned request to appear at the tour- ist camp. She escaped, she said, and made her way to Phoenix, Ariz, by begging rides from motorists after her own car had broken down near San Juan Capistrano. . Says She Tried to Die.
