NEW YORK-LONDON GALLS ANNOUNCED Ordinary House Telephones on Opposite Side of Aglantic to Be Connected. By the A glated Press. NEW JORK, December 29.—Per- sons in ¥ew York and London soon will be alde to, talk to each other over ordinary house telephones at a cost of § minute. Walter ilfford, president of the American Telephone and Telegraph Co., in announcing that the service will be opened to the public early in January, said that as fast as it is practical to do so st will be extended to other sections of the country. The charge will be $75 for a 8- minute conversation and $25 for each additional minute. There will be a report charge of $10 if the tele phone number, but not the desig- nated party, is reached. Calls in either direction are to be limited to 12 minutes if other per- sons are waiting to communicate orally across the Atlantic.
