A very firm condition of the butter market was reported this morning. while the egg market showed signs of further weakening. Dealers think butter prices will go Mo higher than the prevailing high prices, but are unable to suggest When lower prices may be expected. Increased receipts and lower prices of eges, it Is stated, have increased the demand for fresh stock, many con- sumers having bought storage eggs when higher prices for'the fresh stock prevailed. THE EVENING STAR, WASHINGTON, D. /COTTON REACTION "NEW YORK CURB MARKET Received by Private Wire Direct to The Star Office BY WILLIAM R. HEFFERNAN. Special Dispatch to The Star. NEW YORK, December 14.—The outstanding feature of the Curb Ex- change trading today was the spec- tacular selling of Serv-El Corpora- tion issues which carried the 6 per cent bonds down at one time below 61, to the lowest at which the issue has ever sold and off more than 16 points on the day. A break of this magnitude in the bond issue was cause for considerable anxiety on the part of holders, and was the basis for comment in specu- lative quarters. At the same time Serv-El common stock went to new low levels, below 6, as against the previous final 7. While these offerings were having their effect upon the market for Serv- El issues, Electric Refrigeration 6s bonds were holding firm at the previ- ous closing of 99. This was clear enough proof that there was nothing in the situation of the industry itselt to account for the break in Serv-El bonds and stocks, and that offerings were the result of some special rea- son pertaining to the corporation it- self. Following is a list of bonds_and stocks traded in on the New York Curb Market today. INDUSTRIALS.
