TOWNSEND CLAIMED BY DEATH Naval Officer of Bureau of Opera- tions Succumbs to Complications of Diseases. Comdr. Lloyd Woolsey Townsend; S. N., attached to the Bureau of Naval Operations in the Navy Depart. ment, died early today at his home, 3305 Macomb street. Corgdr, Town- send had been ill for several weeks, his death being attributed to a com- plication of diseases which started with a cold. The funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at the home of Mrs. Townsend’s mother, Mrs. Barry Baldwin Osborn, 1730 Massa- chusetts avenue, The final ce monies will be at Arlington at 3 p.m., and interment will be with naval honors. Comdr. Townsend was a native of New dJersey and was born at Camden May 10, 1882. He entered the Naval Academy in 1901 as an_appointea from thzt State. In 1916 he became alde on the staff of the train com- mander of the Atlantic fleet and was on that duty at the time of the begin. ning of the World War.
