The vote in Montana in favor of the repeal of the State prohibition enforcement la has not served to change the views of Senator Walsh, Demacrat, of that State against mod ification of the Volstead act. The Senator, one of the outstanding drys in Congréss, said he had. not 'seen the final figures of the vote on the referendum, but expressed the view that these would disclose that many of the people of his State refrained from participation in this particular contest last week. He added that the result probahl) was due to over confidence on the part of the drys and a desire of many to register a protest against the lack of enforcement of the existing l:§v.
