They protested they no longer author ity to do this, but after pressure from Mr. Churchill consented to place the matter before the district associations Meanwhile, Mr. Churchill followed up his interview with a letter suggest- ing a conference and the lines of a settiement, and declaring that it was time to abandon formalities, get down to business and make a new arranze- ment.
