YORK, September 11.—Two living “fiery dragons” of China have been added to the animal collections of the New York Zoological Park. ‘They are giant lizards, 8 feet long, that weigh 200 pounds each, and whose forebears have been emblaz- oned on the Chinese flag for 4,000 years., They arrived here yesterday from the remote Dutch island of Komodo, in the Malay Archipelago, where they were captured by Douglas Burden, trustee of the American Mu- seum of Natural History. Burden and his wife discovered the species while flying over the island with Alan Cob- ham, British aviator. cientists say the discovery and capture of these giant lizards is one of the most important zoological finds in modern times. They are the only ones in captivity. Mr. Burden was in- formed that every important museum in the world has been eager to obtain living specimens since 1912, when P. A.
