REPORTS GAR LINE WL STOP OENED, Office of Washmgton -Virginia Manager Says: Plan Is: Not Considered. Rumors thaf the Washington-Vir ginia Railway _would discontinue operation if the Public Utilities Com- mission carries out it plan to order | the line to replace a considerable por- tion of its trackage in the District are denied at the office of F. W. TWondcock, the operating manager, in_Philadelphia. The line has been in the hands of the receiver for several ‘vears. and according to officlals of the commis- wion, is operating at a loss. Any ad- ditional expense, such as the replace- ment of tracks would involve, it was said, in viewed by utilities experts as a death blow Officials of the utilities’ coifiaihbion say that the company's tracks are in bad condition and that they - will sither have to he replaced or the line will not he permitted to operate in the District. The order directing the company to make the improvements | has heen written and will he consid- ered at a_public hearing of the com. misslon Thuraday morning. Abandonment Not Planned. : Mr. Woodcack is In New Orleans, ft was sald at his Philadelphia office. Another report. was that the Pennsylvania Railroad was planning to purchase and operate the | Iine. Must Renew Rails. The commission’s order direcis that the company renew the wheel rails, replace all broken vokee and other broken portions of the substructure and restore tracks to proper line and grade on Twelfth street from C to D streets and on C street from Twelfth to Thirteen and One-half streets:; The order also stipulates that the work shall commence not latey than July 15 and be fully completed by Septem ber 15. Several other matters also will he considered by the commission at Thursday’s public hearing. One con- cerns the application of the Capital Traction Co. to discontinue the opera tion of the Rock Creek Park golf courses bus line, and another the peti tion of the Washington Railway and Electric_Co. to reroute the north end of its East Washington bus line via! Florida avenue, Trinidad avenue, Oates | street, Montello avenue to Mount Oli-| vet Cemetery. Cullen obtained A marriage license for the couple as soon as the divorce case had been dismissed, andall went to the chamber of the chief justice, where he performed the ceremony.
