The play, as probably every one knows, is a sprightly bit that deals ith the lives of an underpaid cleric ul his nilece, It presents Romaine ender in the role of the meek min- . Her uplift work in be- alf of the uncle successfully sends the congregation into @ moral nose- dive. One of the hest bits of the entire evening is that of Percy Wi cs the ancient philosophical sexton 4 ard red "| with a strong leaning veals marked facility true when he and his a hand in rehabilitating the minister's mily in its official and soclal phases. s Hampden is the father of the young scape- who falis in love with the min- The younger la of Croesus, who sets ing the alleged Chris- Rev. Givney, William Phelps and ard are omnipresent spinster church worker and Mrs, Hibbard as the wife of the senior warden of the church and very much the dowager empress of the com- munity. If you don’t belleve her word is law, watch Bllly Phelps, who plays the part of her son. The trio is, as usual, good. Dorothy Tierney has Iit- tle to do as the deb daughter of the dowager empress. The cast is so large that the com- pany was forced to go out into the ways and byways of District dra- cs to get some of its talent, and it as splendidly successful in acquiring the services of Denis Connell of the St. Patrick’s Players for the part of the recalcitrant member of the vestry, who stuck by the minister through the congregation’s attacks; Robert L. Clear as the vestry's clerk and Ielen Grahame as the maid of the rectory. “Thank-U” boasts of as fine a first act as the company ever has produced. And there are many other reasons why the play as a whole should be seen. WARDMAN PARK;"R«MP Baby.” Some Baby,” an amusing comedy possessing a_highly plot from the pen of an unknown au- s thor, but with an apparent weak end- ing, is the farewell offering of the Thomas Herbert Stock Co. in the Wardman Park Theater this week. Before entering the little theater one must put on his holiday and leave stern logic and things a they are back home to mind the baby or put out the cat, for neither of these two would be a suitable companion with which to enjoy the absurdities of this frothy bit of wit and lovemaki Parker Fennelly and Ranald carry the burden of the former in the role of Prof. small town physician, who believ has found the “elixir of yout the latter in the part of Phil, the voung lover, i d into a ter- rible tangle Amn F .| H. €.
