The buyer considered Ceiotex insulation an :m- portant item in making his decision in favor of our property.” * eat-Leaking H sound that we have ever used.” oing out of date? THE BUILDING AUTHORITIES SAY, “YES, LOOK AHEAD!” IT is a great mistake, say the authorities in the building field, tobuild heat-leaking houses today. “Look ahead,” they say; five years from now. or even sooner, such houses will be shunned——hard to sell, rent or mortgage. For these houses have cold rooms, draughty hallways, chilly floors, in winter. In summer the sun beats right through them. You can remember stifling days, sleepless nights, oven-like rooms. Walls may seem solid, yet leak heat Ordinary building materials alone¥ (wood, brick, plaster, concrete. etc.) offer but slight resistance to the passage of heat. No matter how your house is built, heat wili leak through solid walls and roof, unless you use a special heat- stopping material. Celotex Insulating Lumber is such a material. It practically stops heat (see the chart). It shuts out wind and moisture. It deadens sound. It is manufactured from tough cane fibre. It is 4’ wide, 8’ to 12’ long, 7/16" thick, and weighs about 60 pounds per 100 square feet. ; Vital home protection Your first year in a house built with Celotex will be a reve- lation in home comfort and economy. Every room snug and warm all winter long. Better shelter— better health! And year after year Celotex will save about one-third your fuel bill. On sweltering summer days and nights, you will enjoy the refreshing difference it makes in house temperature. Celotex also makes a stronger, more durable house—be- cause it is much stronger than wood in wall sections. It is the only effective insulating material which provides this greater strength in the house walls and the only insulation that is not an extraitem in the building. Little or no extra building cost Unlike ordindry insulation, Celotex replaces other materials. As sheathing, it adds nothing to the ccst of a house. Under plaster it costs a trifle more—but consider the advantages it gives: (1) As sheathing, Celotex supplies the insulation needed back of stucco, brick or wood exteriors. Here it replaces the rough boards formerly used, giving greater strength to the house walls and makes the use of building paper unnecessary. (2) On inside walls and ceilings plaster is applied directly to the surface of Celotex. This eliminates the use of lath, and forms stronger insulated walls, free from lath marks. (3) Celotex is used for interior and exterior finish. It may be left in its attractive natural tan color, stained, stenciled or painted in any way. (4) Celotex eliminates the necessity for deadening felt. Sound does not pass through it readily. (5) Celotex does away with any extra insulation. It gives heat- stopping value, equal to the best. New comforts in old houses, too You can enjoy a big measure of Celotex comfort in the house you now live in. Simply line your attic and basement with Celotex. That helps, and costs but little. Ask your architect, contractor or lumber dealer to tell you more about Celotex. All lumber dealers can supply it. Leaders in these lines advise its use. Meanwhile, send for the free Celotex Building Book. It ex- plains fully this great improvement in building. Mail the coupon below. THE CELOTEX COMPANY, CHICAGO, ILL. Mills: New. Orleans, La. Relative heat-stopping values Cross-sections show why Celotex is needed as insulation back of wood; brick, plaster and concrete. .. As a heat-stop, Celotex is 3 times as effective as wood; 8 times, plasterboard; 12 times, brick; 25 times, concrete. St. Louis BANK REAL ESTATE OFFICER “It has been my experience during twenty-seven vears of handling the sale of residential property that a well insulated house immediately recom- mends itself to the purchaser.” HOW CELOTEX IS USED On outside walls, as sheathing, it affords insulation and adds many times the structural strength of wood. On insidewalls and ceilings, under plaster, it gives a stronger insulated wall with a better‘bond between Celotex and plaster than the key between wood lath and plaster. It eliminates lath marks.
