Kern, 80 years of age. former president of Randolph-Macon College at Ashland, and a of the Baltimore Methodist Confer- ence, died Tuesday afternoon at the home of his son, Dr. Paul B. Kern, in Dallas, Tex. His hody I8 to be taken to Winchester Friday for burial. Dr. Kern firat became a member of the facul'v of Randolph-Macon College in 1886. He was vice presi- dent from 1893 to 1897, and president from 1897 to 1899. FKrom 1899 to 1914 he was professor of theology a1 Vanderbill University and re- turned to Randolph-Macon in 1914 where he continued until 1922 as professor of religion Dr. Kern s survived by these chil- dren: Dr. Paul B. Kern. professor of the Bible at the Southern Methodist TUniversity: Dr. A. A. Kern, professor of English at Randolph - Macon Woman's College: Lerov E. Kern of New York City and M M. Or- mond of Durham, N. € member | DIES IN BOSTON. Mrs. Jennie T. Moulthrop Was For- merly a Treasury Clerk Here. Mrs. Jennie T. Moulthrop, 75 years old, formerly a clerk in the Treasury Department for 37 years, and a resi- dent of this city until four years ago, died in Boston, Mass.. Saturda She was the widow of Sidney A. Moul- throp of New Haven, Conn., who was connected with the legal department of the surgeon general's office, War Department, for many years. He also was a veteran of the Civili War and a well known church organist for many years. Funeral services for throp were conducted In Boston ves- terday. with interment in that city. She was one of the early members | of the First Congregational Church | here, being among the first few hun- dred who helped to insure its suc- cess. She was a member of the choir there and her husband gave his serv- ices as an organist free for one vear. Later she attended St. Stephen's Epis- copal Church here. Mrs. Moulthrop's matden name was Miss Jennie Hall Teulon and she was a native of Massachusetts. Miss Josephine Campbell Kelton, $5 years old, chief of the apointment section, oficers’ division of the ad- jutant vsu eral's office, during the World nd who had been in the Government service 33 years, died at the Washington Sanitarium, Takoma Park, yesterday following an opera- tion. She was the daughter of Mra. John C. Kelton and the late Gen. Kelton. who served as adjutant gen eral oi the War Department from 1889 to 1892, In 1921 the apointment section of which Miss Kelton was chief became known as the reserve division and she merved as chief of the latter division. Page, one of Ar-| gentina’s best known alrmen, was| drowned in the Parana River today when his seaplane crashed while he | was making a search for Capt. Ma- dariaga, a fellow aviator, who has been missing since March 16. Lieut. Caste, a passenger on the plang was serfously injured and the mechanician bruised in the crash, which was declared to be due to motor trouble. Lieut. Page was one of the organ jzers of Ma). FREEMAN, 54, ORGAN EXPERT, DIES Prominent Local Musician Deng-n- ed Instruments for Many Churches. Henry H. Freeman, 54 vears old, long a prominent figure in musical circles, and noted as an_organ de- signer, died at his home, 3141 Mount Pleasant street, vesterday. He had been in failing health for some time, but had been seriously ill only ahont two weeks. For the last five years Mr. Free man had been organiet and choir master at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Rock Creek parish. and be- fore that had served in a similar ca- pacity 22 years at St. John's Church, Sixteenth and H streets. Mr. Freeman drew the plans and specifications for many organs in- stalled in churches in the East. That at St. Paul's and the organ in Forest Glen Seminary were among those for which he had drawn plans Mr. Freeman was a member of the faculty of the Washington College of Music and had been a director of the Washington Oratorfo Society. It was through his aid that many *of the leading organists of the world were hronght to Washington, among them .loseph Bonner. Edwin H. Le mare and Clarence Fddv Widely known for his ability as an organist, Mr. Freeman often gave recitals at the University of Virginia and before the Washington Society of Fine Arts. His Lenten recitals on Saturdays at St. John's Episcopal Church were well known also to lovers of music in this efty Born in Goldshoro, N. C., Mr. Freeman received his first instruction from his mother. He later completed his studies at the Broad Street Con- servatory of Music.
