WALLACE, D. C. OFFICIAL, DIES Water Registrar Had Been in Em- ploy of Municipal Government Since 1887. George Weed Wallace, water registrar of the District and an em- ploye of the local government since 1887, died last night at his residence, treet from acute heart trouble. When last seen by his friends yesterday, Mr. Wall ppeared in kood health. He wa Mr. Wallace did not respond to a call made at his door this morning by the maid and as Mrs. Wallace 13 out of the city, the girl summoned a nefghbor, who opened the door and found the body. Dr. Robert . Beale was called and declared Mr. Wallac had been dead several hours. Mrs. Wallace, who is on a visit to her brother, H. G. Gibson of Staten Island, 'N. Y., was notified and she will arrive here this evening. Mr. Wallace was born in George- town and following an_education ob- tained In the public schools, pursued the civil engineering profession He was employed by the Federal Government before becoming connect- ed with the municipal government. On April 1 of this year he would have completed 20 years’ service as water registrar, a position calling for deter- mination of private consumption and all other facts leading up to the ren- dering of water bills.
