The actuarfes, however, will not} be able to make their estimates until they have certain data now being prepared by the Clvil Service Con- mission relative fo the number of employes to be benefited i The employes are contending fur phe privilege of optional retirement /atter 30 vears of service and a more liberal basis of computing the annu- ities to be received. One of the questions to be setied by the com- mittees of Congress is whether there should be an age limit that would have to be attained Before one could take sdvantage of the 30-veur optional retirement. The Stanfield-Lehlbach bill. which | most of the employes’ organizations supperted at the recent hearings, would allow a maximum annuity of $1,200. The employe’s contribution to Ihe retirement fund would be in-{ creased by this bill from 2%z to 3% per cent. A.S. A.
