Menoher, commanding the 9th Corps Area, 8an Francisco, Maj. Gen. James H. McRea, now commanding in the Elhlllpplnes, is expected to succeed im. Gen. McRea's tour of foreign service will be completed about the time of Gen. Menoher's retirement, March 20, and he has indicated a wish to be as- signed to the San Francisco command. Because of his senority in the list of major generals, it is generally expect- ed that he will be given the station. Gen. Menoher commanded the 42d (Rainbow)( National Guard Division during the war and was later chief of the Alr Service, having been succeed- ed by the present chief, Maj. Gen. Mason M. Patrick. He asked to be relieved of thet duty after sharp dif- ference between himself and Col. Wil- llam Mitchell, who was then assistant chiet. Other major generals to be retired for age next year are Andrew W. Brewster, commanding the 1st Corps Area, Boston, and Harry Taylor, chief of Army Engineers. Gen.
